Cold Therapy 2
Jan 16, 2021| The temperature used in cold therapy is generally higher than 0°C, and the temperature is slowed down without causing local tissue damage. However, the temperature used in cryotherapy is much lower than 0°C, and the rapid cooling causes the tissue cells to produce ice crystals and be destroyed.
Clinically, cryotherapy is mainly applied locally, while cold therapy methods can be applied locally or systemically. Local application of cold therapy includes ice pack, ice pad, ice water bath, ice massage, low temperature wet compress, ice exercise therapy (immerse the affected area in ice water for 10-20 minutes, or massage with ice for 5-7 minutes, then proceed immediately Active and passive movement) and chloroethane injection.
Body applications include alcohol rub bath, wet wrap, cold water enema and so on. Whole body cold therapy is also widely used in fitness, such as cold baths, winter swimming, ice baths and so on.
