The development history of liquid nitrogen cryotherapy machine

Jan 20, 2021|

Cryotherapy has a long history of medical applications. There have been records of the use of ice for pain relief in ancient my country. Hippocrates (460-370 AD) has suggested using ice or snow as a treatment.

In the 1960s, Cooper invented a cryotherapy machine made of liquid nitrogen that could control the freezing temperature and the range of cryo-necrosis, and applied cryotherapy technology to surgical clinics.

Domestic cryosurgery started a little later. In the early 1970s, cryosurgery was gradually developed in many clinical departments. In the 1980s, cryosurgery has spread to all levels of medical units nationwide.
